Goal of this event

This event aimed to promote a holistic understanding of well-being, encompassing physical, mental, emotional, and social health, while emphasizing inclusion, inclusive education, and strategies to support teachers and essential workers. By integrating insights from healthcare, education, and economics, the seminar provided practical approaches to enhance individual and community well-being, inspiring participants to take meaningful steps toward a more inclusive and sustainable future.

The seminar featured opening remarks by Dr. Yumiko Suzuki, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and collaboration, and Mr. Takanobu Kiyoshige, who highlighted the role of joint efforts in enhancing societal well-being. Key speakers included Dr. Alberto Prati from University College London on subjective well-being measurement, Dr. Jessica Doty from University of Colorado Boulder on equity and mental health in higher education, Dr. Takao Hinoi from HU on genomic medicine’s implications for well-being, and Mr. Hirofumi Osaki from NISE on strategies for special needs education. Complementing the discussions, the event included a lunch performance by Insheart & Angelfish (Japan Down Syndrome Society Hiroshima Branch), blending culture and therapeutic expression, followed by a talk from Insheart on the healing power of music. A panel discussion moderaed by Dr. NorimuneKawai explored interdisciplinary approaches to well-being, emphasizing collective efforts to build inclusive and sustainable societies. The seminar concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Kawai, urging continued collaboration across sectors to create a more inclusive and supportive future.
