Student-Initiated Campus Map Web App “Hirodai Maps”
We are pleased to introduce “Hirodai Maps,” a campus map web app developed by Hiroshima University students.
Hirodai Maps was originally proposed in 2023 by Yunosuke Ikeda, then a fourth-year student in Cluster 3 of the School of Engineering, and Sena Matsuda, then a second-year student in the Department of Integrated Arts and Sciences, School of Integrated Arts and Sciences, Hiroshima University.
The project was selected for the “Higashi-Hiroshima City Student Startup Challenge 2023.” Since then, the initiative has continued to expand across the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus with support from the Institute for Diversity and Inclusion, Hiroshima University.
Hirodai Maps allows users to search for buildings, lecture rooms, and other locations on the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus and find routes to their destinations. It helps users navigate the large campus when, for example, they are unsure where a particular building is located or need directions to a lecture room.
A feature for searching for barrier-free routes is also planned, with further improvements being made to help more people navigate the campus safely and comfortably.
Hirodai Maps is especially useful for new students, international students, and others who are not yet familiar with the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus.
We hope you will make use of Hirodai Maps to help you get around the campus.
